International School of Ukrainian Studies is a scientific and didactic centre of Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences that fruitfully cooperates with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The chief form of the scientific and research activity embraces the short-term
(21-25 days) sessions connected with summer students vacations.

Summer session 2010 will take place approximately from July 4 till July 26.

The Summer Session Programme is based on everyday practical classes of the Ukrainian language, literature and culture.

The programme of practical classes of Ukrainian involves: the intensive course of Ukrainian (approximately 80 hours) and additional classes (approximately 40 hours). The practical course begins with placement test that proves an appropriate level of students’ command of Ukrainian. Additional courses cover lectures and seminars on special aspects to satisfy individual interests of the School participants.

Lectures on Ukrainian and other theoretical classes will be hold by the most respected professors of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and leading scientists of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, people of name in culture and art of Ukraine.

The courses will take place in Kyiv – Lutsk.

A short CV (curriculum vitae) in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish or English language should be sent us indicating the present command of Ukrainian language. We also ask you to outline the circle of your scientific interests which will help us to adapt our educational programme of additional courses in maximum accordance with your needs.

The students of the Summer session will be offered an extensive programme for getting to know the capital museums and monuments of culture.

We provide students with cultural programme in Kyiv, subject tours outside the capital (a visit to “Sophiyivka” National Park in Uman’ Town, a tour to Chernihiv, excursion to the Ukrainian Folk Architecture and Way-of-LifeMuseum in the village of Pyrohovo).

The ISUS students will be provided with a dormitory and two-meal a day (breakfast and lunch).

In consideration of current world economic status the ISUS cannot provide the study free of charge in Summer school. The fee of a student is 200€. According to the decision of Academic Council of ISUS charge concessions can be given only to some students.
